What On The Go collects, why, and the choices you have — written in plain language.
Last updated · August 3, 2026This page explains, in plain language, what information the On The Go app collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using On The Go, you agree to what’s described below.
We only collect what the app needs to work. Here’s everything:
You sign in with your Google account. When you do, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo so we can create your account and keep your tasks in sync. We never see or store your Google password.
We store the things you create in the app — your tasks, notes, due dates, reminders, and lists. If you add a place to a task (for a location reminder), we also save that place and its location with the task. All of this is saved on your phone and backed up to your private account so it’s available on your other devices.
If you upgrade to On The Go Pro, the payment is handled by Google Play. We only learn whether you own Pro so we can unlock its features. We never receive your card or bank details.
If you don’t have Pro, the app shows ads through Google’s ad service. To show ads, Google may use your device’s advertising ID and some basic device information. Upgrading to Pro removes all ads.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used so we can fix problems and improve it. It automatically collects an app-instance identifier, your device’s advertising ID, which screens you open and how long you spend in the app, app lifecycle events (such as opening the app), in-app purchase events, and basic performance diagnostics.
Analytics also estimates your approximate location — roughly city-level — from your masked IP address. This is a separate mechanism from the place reminders described in section 2: your live GPS location is never sent to Analytics or to our servers.
When you are signed in, this analytics information is associated with your account identifier, and we record whether you have upgraded to Pro. We do not send your task titles, your notes, or the places you save to Analytics.
When the app connects to the internet, the services we use may automatically receive standard information such as your device type and general connection details.
To make these reminders work — even when the app is closed — the app checks your location in the background and alerts you when you reach a place you set on a task.
Your live location stays on your phone. We do not send your live location to our servers, and we do not keep a history of where you go. The only location that is saved is the place you choose to attach to a task, so that reminder can appear on your other devices too.
Separately, and unrelated to this feature, our analytics provider estimates your approximate area from your IP address as described in section 1. That estimate does not come from your device’s GPS and is not connected to your place reminders.
Location reminders are optional. You can say no to the location request, or turn it off later in your phone’s settings — the rest of the app keeps working normally.
The app only asks for what it needs, and only when a feature requires it:

On The Go is built on trusted Google services. These providers process some of your information on our behalf and have their own privacy policies:
You’re in control of your data and can remove it any time:
Your information is sent over secure, encrypted connections, and your synced data is stored in your private, account-only space on Google’s servers. No system is ever perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
On The Go is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
You can review, correct, or delete your information at any time using the steps in section 7. You can also turn off location permission in your phone’s settings, and reset or limit your advertising ID from your phone’s Google ad settings — limiting it also limits what analytics and ads can associate with your device.
Uninstalling the app stops all further collection, including analytics.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
